Learn how Lock50 Change ID keys simplify your key programming workflow

Reusable Up to 10 Times

Each Change ID key can be used up to 10 times to copy keys. After 10 uses, it automatically converts to a Fixed ID key and can no longer be used for Change ID key copies - it's now a one-time use key that your client keeps.

Once the key is copied and programmed, hand it over to your client. They can use it just like an original key.

Important Note

Each Change ID key comes with its own 10 usage credits stored directly on the key chip. Simply read the key using your Lock50 reader connected to the internet to instantly see how many uses remain. Each key copy operation uses 1 credit. Once all 10 uses are exhausted, the key converts to a standard Fixed ID key for your client to keep.

1 Read Existing Keys via OBD

✓ Option 1: Client Has 1 Key (Spare)

Make a copy of their missing key from the locked RFA. You'll have 2 keys total.

✓ Option 2: Client Has No Keys (All Lost)

Make copies of 2 keys so you have 2 working keys for this vehicle.

Run "Check Keys" - Connect Lock50 via OBD

If car can see both keys, it will show GREEN and display "2 of 2 keys found"

Alternative: TCU Service Mode

This process can be avoided if the car is not armed and can enter TCU Service Mode — this allows key programming without the gateway key strategy.

All Packages Can Add Their Own Keys via OBD

Packages A, B, C, and C+ can all add their own keys directly via OBD without using key copy. This is useful when you want to program new keys without copying from existing keys.

UWB Enabled Systems:

For UWB (Ultra-Wideband) enabled vehicles, only a UWB enabled key can be learned via OBD without touching any modules. Standard keys will not work for UWB systems.

Important: This Does NOT Erase Lost Keys

The Gateway Key Strategy copies existing key data to new keys — it does NOT erase or delete any keys the client has lost or doesn't have.

To erase old/lost keys, you need:

Package B or higher — Swap to a new RFA module (erases all old keys)
Package C — Purchase a token for RFA unlock, erase all keys in the same RFA, then add new keys using the new ISK secret. The old ISK and any lost keys will be deleted and won't work anymore.
Package C+ — Unlock the RFA, erase all keys in the same RFA, then add new keys using the new ISK secret. The old ISK and any lost keys will be deleted and won't work anymore.
