What is Fixed ID?

NCF29A1 keys are programmed once with a permanent ID that cannot be erased or changed

Permanent Programming

Once programmed, the key ID is locked and cannot be reprogrammed for another vehicle

OEM Standard

Identical behavior to original dealer keys - customer receives traditional key experience

No Reusability

Cannot erase or reprogram - key blank is dedicated to one vehicle permanently

Security Focused

Fixed ID prevents accidental reprogramming or unauthorized key modifications

OEM vs Non-OEM Keys

Understanding the differences between genuine OEM and aftermarket alternatives

OEM Keys

HW15-16, HW19-20, HW21-26 are genuine OEM quality keys from Land Rover/Jaguar dealers

  • Highest quality materials and construction
  • Identical to dealer replacement keys
  • Premium feel and finish
  • Higher cost but best customer satisfaction

Best for: Customers who want genuine OEM quality and don't mind paying premium prices

Non-OEM Keys

HW17-18 are aftermarket keys that provide excellent functionality at lower cost

  • Budget-friendly alternative to OEM
  • Same NCF29A1 chip as OEM keys
  • Keyless entry without button press on UWB vehicles
  • Perfect replacement for expensive HW21-26 UWB keys

Best for: Budget-conscious customers who want quality functionality without OEM pricing

💡 Pro Tip: HW17-18 as Budget UWB Alternative

HW17-18 keys work as keyless entry replacements for expensive HW21-26 dealer UWB keys on 2021+ vehicles!

  • Walk up to vehicle and doors unlock automatically (no button press needed)
  • Same keyless functionality as OEM UWB keys at fraction of the cost
  • Customer saves hundreds compared to dealer UWB key pricing

⚠️ UWB System Error

Damaged UWB System? No Problem!

When certain car models have a damaged UWB system, there's still a solution

Common UWB Error

UWB error detected on vehicle

UWB system damage error displayed on vehicle

The Solution

Even with a damaged UWB system, you can still add keys by following this approach:

  • Unlock the RFA for EVA2 using SW40 with C+ Packages - This disables the UWB functionality and locks the vehicle to standard keyless entry
  • Disable UWB - Turn off the Ultra-Wideband system in the vehicle's configuration
  • Add keys normally - Once UWB is disabled, you can program new keys without needing to swap the RFA

Why This Works

By unlocking the RFA to EVA2 mode using SW40 with C+ Packages and disabling UWB, the vehicle falls back to traditional keyless entry. This bypasses the damaged UWB system entirely, allowing key programming through standard OBD methods without expensive RFA swaps.

Important Note

This solution works for EVA2 vehicles. The vehicle will still function normally with regular keyless entry - the UWB features (like precise location sensing for remote parking) will be disabled, but all core locking/unlocking functionality remains intact.
