SW40 vs SW36 vs SW30: When to Use Each

Understanding the difference between these three powerful functions

SW40: EVA2 RFA Unlock

Unlock to Erase Keys

Primary Purpose:

SW40 is ONLY used to unlock EVA2 RFA modules so you can erase lost keys from the system WITHOUT swapping the RFA module.

CRITICAL LIMITATION:

SW40 does NOT work when car has alarm armed! The alarm must be disarmed first. SW40 only works when the vehicle is in a non-alarmed state.

When to Use SW40:

  • All keys lost - Need to delete old keys from EVA2 RFA
  • Want to keep original RFA (no module swap)
  • Vehicle is NOT in alarm state (alarm disarmed)

Note: SW40 is NOT for copying keys or making spares - it's for unlocking the RFA to erase keys only.

After Using SW40:

Once the RFA is unlocked, you can then add new keys to the system using normal programming methods.

SW36: Key Duplicator

Copy Keys from Locked RFA

Primary Purpose:

SW36 is used to copy existing keys or make spare keys when the RFA/BCM is locked.

When to Use SW36:

  • Make a spare key - Customer has working key
  • All keys lost - Copy key data to make new keys
  • Car has alarm on - Make keys while alarm active
  • RFA/BCM is locked and needs key duplication

Advantage: SW36 is the fastest way to make a spare or replacement key - no module swap needed.

What You Get:

Fully working key with Emergency Start + Remote + Keyless Entry functions.

SW30: Service Mode

Add OEM Keys via Service Mode

Primary Purpose:

SW30 is used to add OEM keys to locked RFA when the car has been put into service mode. Only works on EVA2 models.

When to Use SW30:

  • EVA2 vehicles only (2020+ PIVI Pro)
  • Service mode activated via InControl app or 2 working keys
  • Want to add OEM keys to locked system
  • RFA is locked but service mode bypasses security

Requirement: Customer must have InControl app OR you need 2 working keys to enable service mode.

What You Get:

Add OEM keys via OBD without swapping RFA or BCM modules when service mode is active.
